Jackal Retro, also known as Top Gunner, is an overhead run-and-gun shooter game available on iPhone. In this game, players must maneuver an armed jeep to rescue prisoners of war (POWs) trapped in enemy territory. As a member of the elite Jackal Squad, you have been assigned the mission to drive the jeep into hostile territory and extract the POWs.
The game begins with a transport helicopter dropping your jeep onto the enemy coast. Your main objective is to penetrate the enemy's main headquarters and destroy their ultimate weapon. Along the way, you will encounter numerous internment camps where the POWs are held. By picking up prisoners, your jeep's grenade/missile launcher can be upgraded. Once your jeep is filled with prisoners, you must drive to the nearest heliport where an extraction chopper awaits to retrieve them. Extracting prisoners in succession will earn you more points and upgrade your missile launcher.
Throughout the mission, you will traverse various environments such as ancient ruins, lakes, hills, and mountains. Be cautious, as your jeep can be destroyed if shot by a projectile or collides with an enemy vehicle. However, you can watch to get a replacement jeep when yours is destroyed. The game ends when you successfully accomplish the mission or run out of replacement jeeps.
